From the reviews
My daughter has been attending the karate class for just over a month and we could not be more pleased. My daughter has already grown so much in her physical abilities and her ability to focus.
My 4yo grandson had been adrift and struggling since losing his parents last year and I reached out to Michiana Martial Arts as the closest (and most affordable) program. Sensei Jed responded immediately with a warm and welcoming reply and our grandson has been loving the 4-7yo kids' program ever since.
I attended a self defense class here, and I would highly recommend it for individuals or groups. The class was very engaging and focused a lot on how to prevent physical altercations and then we learned some self defense moves towards the end as a last resort.
I recently attended a self-defense class at Michiana Martial Arts Center, and it was a fantastic experience! The instructor was knowledgeable, engaging, and created a welcoming environment for all skill levels.
Your first taekwondo class at Michiana Martial Arts Center
Nervous about walking into a taekwondo school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, and kicks with a partner or on pads — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: loose athletic wear you can move in (or a dobok if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the floor. What to bring: water and a positive attitude — many schools lend a loaner dobok for a first class, so it's worth asking. As you keep training you'll get your own dobok and belt, and sparring gear (mouthguard, headgear, and guards) once you begin sparring. Sparring eases in gradually, once your fundamentals and forms are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
