From the reviews
Master Nick is the man. Phenomenal and very large multi-purpose gym facility in the Lakes Area. Everybody should join the small 6AM group fitness. Thanks, Nick, for encouraging us to hit personal bests and keep on going.
Nick is able to meet all of your training needs in the area. He is a great teacher in many different areas. I would encourage people to challenge themselves to take the early morning fitness classes. What a great way to start the day.
Watching this gym grow over the last 25 years has been an honor. My husband has poured his heart and soul into every student who walks through these doors. It’s more than just Taekwondo and fitness; it’s a family. I am so proud of the community we’ve built and the lives changed through discipline and hard work!"
Two of my sons have hugely benefitted from the physical training and character building of Bretz TKD over the years. I can't say enough good about the program, and I wish every parent would put their kids in. Nick and the black belts work so well with the kids
Your first taekwondo class at Park Rapids Tae Kwon DO
Nervous about walking into a taekwondo school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, and kicks with a partner or on pads — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: loose athletic wear you can move in (or a dobok if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the floor. What to bring: water and a positive attitude — many schools lend a loaner dobok for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll get your own dobok and belt, and sparring gear (mouthguard, headgear, and guards) once you begin sparring. Sparring eases in gradually, once your fundamentals and forms are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
