From the reviews
We had recently moved from another country to the Fairfax, VA, area and we wanted to find a martial arts program for our 9 yr old son who has ADHD and required work on his self discipline. We wanted a program that would teach self defense (martial arts), self discipline and team building.
ProTKD has been an amazing activity for my son for the past 10 years. Master Yoon is the BEST! He provides kind and consistent feedback. He gives the kids confidence and the desire to improve with the perfect balance of kind yet firm. It is a skill that is rare and much needed in our kids' lives.
My 5yo daughter has had an EXCELLENT 1st experience with Taekwondo here! Many thanks to Master Yoon's careful programming & incredible instruction, our daughter has jumped right into loving the practice and has already learned so many physical & disciplinary skills that the art of Taekwondo entails.
We have been doing Taekwondo for a while but being in the military we are constantly moving. Pro Taekwondo has been great! They assessed the boys skill set and then built upon it. Master Yoon does a fantastic job of building my boys up, and teaching them life skills on top of Taekwondo principles.
Your first taekwondo class at Pro Taekwondo VA
Nervous about walking into a taekwondo school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, and kicks with a partner or on pads — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: loose athletic wear you can move in (or a dobok if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the floor. What to bring: water and a positive attitude — many schools lend a loaner dobok for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll get your own dobok and belt, and sparring gear (mouthguard, headgear, and guards) once you begin sparring. Sparring eases in gradually, once your fundamentals and forms are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
