What students say

“Whether you have been with Blue Dragon for months or years on end VS stepping on the mat for the very first time, you are greeted and acknowledged by name.”
“Blue Dragon is an excellent place for team-building for students, and also has a very friendly community of students, parents, and staff.”
“The program for 3-5 year olds is a good combination of fun activities (obstacle courses, climbing, games) and building the basics for the forms they will be learning as they grow.”
“They are also very skilled practitioners of TKD that love what they do, and they offer a wealth of international knowledge and experience to the academy.”
“Grandmaster Thac takes lots of time with the kids having a harder time, and will speak with the kids privately when they are struggling either with their skills or their emotions.”
From the reviews
Blue Dragon is a wonderful choice for your children to experience Taekwondo! The studio is not only professional and welcoming but also exceptionally clean. The master and instructors are fantastic role models, demonstrating true discipline and passion for the sport.
My daughter has been with Blue Dragon Taekwondo Academy just a few weeks shy of 2 months. Each week she eagerly comes in to train and greatly looks forward to her interactions with the instructors. My child is a ball of energy who has issues with standing still and is consistently fidgeting.
There are dozens of martial arts schools throughout the Bay Area. If you’re looking for one that can make a true difference in your child, it’s Blue Dragon Academy. My son has been attending the school for the past 5 years. We live in Danville. He’s a National Champion in his division.
My sister goes to this dojo, she's been going for about 2 or 3 yrs, she has grown so much in her skills and her personality, these people at first, I thought they were gonna be bad just because my dojo competed against them, but over time they have gained my respect, I appreciate how much love and attention they give…
New to taekwondo? Start at Blue Dragon Taekwondo Academy
Blue Dragon Taekwondo Academy comes up as a beginner-friendly school, going by their listing and students’ reviews. If you've never trained or set foot in a dojang, that's exactly who a good beginners program is for. A few things worth knowing before your first week. First, you don't need to be fit or flexible to start — you get in shape by training, not before it, and instructors scale the intensity to you. Second, you won't be thrown into hard sparring — reputable schools build fundamentals (stances, blocks, kicks, and basic forms) for weeks, sparring eases in gradually and with gear on, and instructors keep it controlled and safe. Third, all ages and all levels really are welcome — ask about a dedicated beginners or fundamentals class time so your first session is alongside others who are also starting out. Most schools are happy to let you watch or try a class first, so reach out before you commit.
Your first taekwondo class at Blue Dragon Taekwondo Academy
Nervous about walking into a taekwondo school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, and kicks with a partner or on pads — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: loose athletic wear you can move in (or a dobok if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the floor. What to bring: water and a positive attitude — many schools lend a loaner dobok for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll get your own dobok and belt, and sparring gear (mouthguard, headgear, and guards) once you begin sparring. Sparring eases in gradually, once your fundamentals and forms are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
