From the reviews
My kids have been enrolled since March 2021 and let me tell you Mr. Valdes is awesome, he always makes sure everything is sanitized. He is also able to provide great techniques so my 4 year old and 11 year old are able to comprehend and get down the forms, strikes and kicks. His patience with the kids is phenomenal.
You and your children are in good hands. The head instructor Julio Valdes is an excellent teacher with years of experience. I remember one time were he won first place in a tournament against a very tough nationally ranked fighter Casper Culodesuda.
I highly recommend this class to everyone! My 3 kids have only been in it going on 4 months and I have seen so much progress already. The instructor is great and truly cares about each of his students alike. We definitely made the right choice going here!
My 17 year old daughter who suffers with adhd, anxiety and depression has really come out of her shell since joining Colossal. Mr. Julio has really helped her find the confidence she needed. My 40 year old husband also attends class at Colossal and has loved every moment of it. Mr. Julio is a great teacher and mentor!
Your first taekwondo class at COLOSSAL TAEKWONDO
Nervous about walking into a taekwondo school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, and kicks with a partner or on pads — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: loose athletic wear you can move in (or a dobok if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the floor. What to bring: water and a positive attitude — many schools lend a loaner dobok for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll get your own dobok and belt, and sparring gear (mouthguard, headgear, and guards) once you begin sparring. Sparring eases in gradually, once your fundamentals and forms are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
