We are a military family transferring here from overseas. It was extremely important for us to locate a Taekwondo academy that would provide traditional Korean techniques, disciplines, & respect. My daughter has been in TaeKwonDo since the age of 3. As a military child, she had to transfer twice before arriving here.
My daughter has been attending Master Hwang's classes for the past year and a half and has grown so much with her discipline and self-control. The staff and leadership has been excellent throughout her process and has helped her progress in her strength, form, and confidence.
I intentionally held off on reviewing this establishment until my kids (5 yo at start) twins were active in the program a while. You can enroll per year or every 3 years. We weren't sure if our kids would stay interested so we enrolled for 1 year at a minor inconvenience as compared to the 3 year commitment.
My son has been a student here for 1 year. We thoroughly enjoy this establishment and the instructors! Everyone is knowledgeable and are invested in the children and their progress. The class times work well with our schedule; there's also a later evening class.

What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, and kicks with a partner or on pads — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: loose athletic wear you can move in (or a dobok if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the floor. What to bring: water and a positive attitude — many schools lend a loaner dobok for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll get your own dobok and belt, and sparring gear (mouthguard, headgear, and guards) once you begin sparring. Sparring eases in gradually, once your fundamentals and forms are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
