From the reviews
I can not say enough great things about Pai’s TKD! The Schenectady staff is awesome! All the instructors are great with the kids. Professional, patient, great attitude everyday, and personable all while teaching respect, self control and attention ! You feel welcomed when you go there.
My son was 8 years old when he started taking classes here. He struggled with his self esteem because of issues with other kids at school. He is 13 now, a black belt and is now starting to train for leadership to become an instructor.
Pai's Taekwondo has helped my son develop the self-discipline to overcome many of his attention struggles while simultaneously rebuilding his self-confidence and desire to make friends. It's given my children a safe place to succeed with humility and to fail with dignity.
A second generation Taekwondo Master, Master C. Pai is an exemplary role model to his students. He brings so much passion and love to his students, they are truly blessed to have him. I would give 10 Stars to Master Pai and his staff for their dedicated service and enthusiasm. The BEST taekwondo school in the area.
Your first taekwondo class at Pai's Taekwondo
Nervous about walking into a taekwondo school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, and kicks with a partner or on pads — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: loose athletic wear you can move in (or a dobok if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the floor. What to bring: water and a positive attitude — many schools lend a loaner dobok for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll get your own dobok and belt, and sparring gear (mouthguard, headgear, and guards) once you begin sparring. Sparring eases in gradually, once your fundamentals and forms are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
