From the reviews
I don’t typically post reviews but I felt that i must express my views on this martial arts school. My kids have been attending TMMA school for past 7 years and have been training to higher and higher skill levels.
This place is a GEM! My kid has been going for a couple of years now. The masters here are great with all of the kids. I go every week and I can say that week in and week out the progression I see from the entire class speaks volumes.
I have to say, going here pretty much helped me with my values and had helped on various physical abilities. I remember baring being able to touch my ankles then my toes. Now i can touch toes no problem...its just that on the tmma website, I swore I saw myself on the "About Tmma" tab.
I started later than most, and even though I'm a lower belt than almost everyone else in my class, I still feel I am getting an equal lesson every time I go. The masters are nice and push everyone to do well, and this place is very conveniently placed as it is easy and safe to walk to for anyone living in the area.
Your first taekwondo class at Ridge Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a taekwondo school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, and kicks with a partner or on pads — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: loose athletic wear you can move in (or a dobok if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the floor. What to bring: water and a positive attitude — many schools lend a loaner dobok for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll get your own dobok and belt, and sparring gear (mouthguard, headgear, and guards) once you begin sparring. Sparring eases in gradually, once your fundamentals and forms are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
