Taekwondo's Largest School Networks (2026)

Most dojangs are independent — but taekwondo also has real franchise networks. ATA Martial Arts (the American Taekwondo Association's Songahm system) is the biggest by far, with Tiger-Rock, Tiger Schulmann's, World Champion and World Class linking schools across the country under a shared curriculum and rank system. Here's the league table from our directory, and the equally useful question it points to: what else do these schools teach? Updated 2026-07-19.

The franchise league table

These are the multi-location taekwondo franchises we can identify by school name across the 4,346 schools in the directory, ranked by how many locations each runs. ATA Martial Arts — the American Taekwondo Association's Songahm system — leads the pack; a franchise signals a shared curriculum, belt standards, and rank testing, which is why so many schools wear one.

Even so, most dojangs stay independent: 4,031 — 92.8% of the directory belongs to no known network. And a well-known franchise is a starting point, not a guarantee — every school is still its own room and its own master instructor, so ATA vs WT vs ITF explained (styles, instructor's rank, culture) matters as much as the name over the door.

What else do taekwondo schools teach?

Taekwondo schools rarely teach just one art. 73.6% of them also train at least one other martial art, an average of 2.1 other disciplines each — many American taekwondo dojangs are really full multi-art schools. Self-Defense is the most common companion art, on the schedule at 62.7% of schools.

How many arts under one roof?

Counting taekwondo plus every other art a school trains, the typical dojang is a small multi-art school, not a one-style studio. The most common profile is a school teaching taekwondo plus 1 other art. Only 1,146 schools show taekwondo on its own so far — and some of those simply haven't had their full schedule surface in our crawl yet.

These are evidence floors — a school counts an art only once its website or a reviewer names it — so single-art counts shrink as the crawl fills in.

The disciplines mix is mined from each school's website and its customer reviews — a discipline counts only when named in the school's own copy or a reviewer's words, never guessed from the business category — so all shares are floors that grow with each re-crawl of our 4,346-school directory.
