From the reviews
Being new to the area I was interested in finding a school that provided my daughter: 1-steady activity and 2-chance to make friends. Happy to report she found both! Master Christian and student teacher Albert are masters in what they do. The class is handled in an orderly fashion, structured and organized.
Our family was looking for a martial arts program for our five year old son. I am thrilled we found High Performance Martial Arts. Master Christian and Instructor Albert are great — they set age-appropriate expectations and work hard to ensure the young ones remain focused and disciplined throughout the lesson (all…
I’ve had a great experience here. We switched from another local spot because I needed the flexibility to bring my kids just once a week instead of twice. This place offers that option, which has worked perfectly for our schedule.
We moved to High Performance Martial Arts from another school that we loved because my son wanted to participate in tournaments and he wanted a more serious school. We have been happy and impressed with this school since we first joined. Love all the teachers.
Your first taekwondo class at High Performance Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a taekwondo school for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, and kicks with a partner or on pads — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: loose athletic wear you can move in (or a dobok if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the floor. What to bring: water and a positive attitude — many schools lend a loaner dobok for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll get your own dobok and belt, and sparring gear (mouthguard, headgear, and guards) once you begin sparring. Sparring eases in gradually, once your fundamentals and forms are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the instructor. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
